Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient.
Butamirate Citrate has a high tolerance. In a few rare cases, adverse responses such as dermatitis, nausea, diarrhoea, and vertigo have been reported, but they have all resolved after the dose was reduced or the medication was stopped.
During the first trimester of pregnancy, butamirate Citrate should be avoided. It can be used for the rest of the pregnancy if a doctor recommends it, but only with caution. In the absence of data on active substance removal in breast milk, the benefits of Butamirate Citrate administration during breast feeding should be carefully evaluated against the dangers, as a general rule.
Because Butamirate Citrate suppresses the cough reflex, it should not be used in conjunction with expectorants, as this may cause mucus retention in the airways, increasing the risk of bronchospasm and respiratory infections. A doctor should be examined if the cough lasts longer than 7 days (or more than 3 days in children under the age of 12).
